In the fall of 2021, the province released the 9 years-overdue updated Recovery Plan for the Mainland Moose. Nature Nova Scotia commends the province for finally producing a sound plan and, in particular, for emphasizing the immediate need for additional research and changes to forestry practices in moose habitat. Now, we must hold the Nova Scotia government to this plan. Help us Save The Mainland Moose by taking the following actions, today:
Understand the Issue – Read our summary of the recovering planning actions taken to date for the Mainland Moose and what’s still needed for effective conservation.
Get a Lawn Sign – Show your support for Species At Risk and ecological forestry by putting up one of our lawn signs.
Send a Message – Demand the Minister of Natural Resources and Renewables designate Core Habitat for the Mainland Moose, as recommended by the province’s own Recovery Planning team.
Sign Our Petition – Help Nova Scotia finally move towards the goals of the Lahey Report and demand Ecological Forestry Now.
Fill Out Our Survey – Help us understand moose habitat use, movement, and public knowledge and values around moose conservation by completing our Mainland Moose Research Project Public Survey
Donate to Our Research Fund – Help us fill vital research gaps by donating to the Species At Risk fund
You can help us Save the Mainland Moose! We’re looking for volunteers to help us get SAVE SAR signs into storefront windows, engage councilors and MLAs in moose concentration areas, and share the call to action with other Nova Scotians.
