Remembering Eben Fry

We were very sad to learn of the unexpected passing of guide, conservationist, and champion of the Ingram River Eben Fry earlier this month. Eben was actively campaigning for the protection of this important wilderness and we are honoured that his family mentioned us in his obituary. Donations made to Nature Nova Scotia’s Protected Areas Fund in Eben’s honour will be dedicated to educational, scientific, and advocacy actions that benefit the permanent protection of the proposed Ingram River Wilderness Area.

Nova Scotia is committed by its own legislation and multi-million dollar agreement with the federal government to protect 20% of public lands by 2030 and, yet, has stalled meaningful progress on the 2013 Parks & Protected Areas Plan, has yet to identify new candidate areas for protection, and is largely refusing to work with local and community groups advocating for the protection of their local wilderness.

Learn more about the call to protect 20% by 2030, the threats facing the Ingram River area, and how you can help deliver on Eben’s goal to protect his beloved wilderness at our Make Room For Nature page. Then head over to CanadaHelps to make your donation.
