Choose The Bear!
International Women’s Day Hike
Join Nature NS staff Jess Lewis and Becky Parker for a femme-identifying hike at Spider Lake Trail! Learn about femme-focused solo hiking safety, including wildlife and human encounters on the trail
We’ll meet on March 8th at 10 AM at the end of Spider Lake Road and follow the loop, aiming to be back at our cars by lunchtime. Please park in the gravel lot—be mindful not to block anyone in or obstruct driveways. If you’re bringing your dog, remember there are no garbage cans, so pack out whatever you bring in.
This trail is not for the faint of heart! Expect mud, logs, and ice as we take on a non-traditional 3 km walk through the woods. Along the way, we’ll chat about our experiences with “bears,” discuss actual bears, and share tips on what to do if you encounter one.
Bring a hiking pack, water, snacks, ice cleats and your bear questions!
