Join the YNC for a special, guided trip to the Otter Ponds Demonstration Forest. Otter Ponds is a collaborative forestry project, showcasing the Acadian forest and sustainable forestry management. We’ll walk the trails of the Otter Ponds woods, and learn about forest ecology from Otter Ponds partner Andy Kekacs, the Executive Director of the Nova Scotia Woodlot Owners & Operators Assocation. Want to learn about ecological forestry in Nova Scotia? Then this is the trip for you!
For the field trip, please wear appropriate clothing (bring rain gear if needed), sturdy footwear (close-toed), a bring drinking water and bug protection. And bring a lunch for us to eat in the covered picnic area.
Otter Ponds is about a 1.5 hour drive from central Halifax. We will meet at the Mooseland Community Centre, 4032 Mooseland Rd.
