1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
We will hike to a local “summit” – Blue Mountain – and along the way look for signs of animals, plants, and more preparing for winter. Our special guest will be Butch Galvez, a Wildlife Technician with the Department of Natural Resources. Make sure to ask him all about beavers!
We will meet at the trailhead at the end of Anahid Drive at 1pm. See this map for the exact location (thanks, Halifax North West Trails Association). From there we will hike in on an inactive logging road, then the foot trail to Blue Mountain, which is the highest point in the city of Halifax. Be prepared to be warm and comfortable for our 3 hours of slow hiking (and lots of observing). Send me an email at ynchalifax at yncns dot ca to register.
