Date/Time

Sunday, January 21, 2018
10:30 am - 12:00 pm

Description

MISR spacecraft

Have you ever taken a picture while travelling at 30,000 km/hr? That might sound impossible, but the satellites orbiting our Earth at that speed collect thousands of images – covering its entire surface – every 1 to 2 days! These satellites are called “Earth Observation Satellites” and they provide very useful and important data to help scientists in many fields detect, monitor and predict changes in our landscapes, our seascapes and our climate, among other things. Join us for an engaging, interactive exploration of Earth from 700 kilometres overhead, and the amazing satellites that help us see and understand our impacts on the planet.
