Nature Guardians Fall Session 2018

Saturday, September 22, 2018 - Saturday, November 3, 2018
2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Hi Nature Guardians!

The summer has flown by and I can’t believe we are reaching out to you already about this fall’s programming.

Once again Nature Guardians be held in Shubie Park, Dartmouth with the potential for one off site field trip.  Nature Guardians is a chance to learn about natural history with a similarly minded group of youth people who are interested in hands on activities that work towards increasing the biodiversity of the park through monitoring, restoration, and conservation.

Some changes for this year include only having 15 places available for participants and changing the age range to from 12-15.  Since the Halifax YNC Chapter offers programing intended for youth age 7-12 we thought it would be best to make this program specifically for the older age range.

Other changes this year include  filling out this registration form as well as a small charge of $5 a session ($25 total) to help with some of the costs associated with getting assistant helpers (including the return of Emily!).  We offer a $50 family rate for 2 or more youth that want to participate. Please contact us before you register to arrange this option. Participants will receive a beautiful sew on patch by Nature Nova Scotia

Some exciting activities we have this year include:

Sept 22 – Special LEAVE NO TRACE workshop by Lyse Boyse, certified Leave no trace trainer

Sept 29 – Beach clean up and brand audit with special guests Canadian Sea Turtle Network
Oct 20 – Water quality testing and Yellow fish road community education program
Oct 27 and Nov 3 – Acadian Forest restoration project and Hemlock Woolly Adelgid baseline study

We acknowledge that this session is supported by the WWF GoWild Fund as well as the Adventure Earth Centre.
